The man suspected of murdering a social worker in Viborg earlier this month has admitted to killing her, metroXpress reports.

At the court in Viborg yesterday, 39-year-old Kristian Heilmann denied the further charge of rape or attempted rape in the murder of 46-year-old Judy Meiniche Simonsen.

Simonsen's body, which was discovered on the evening of February 7 near an ice house, bore stab wounds and indications she may have been sexually assaulted.

The two had left for a drive earlier in the day from Blåkærgård group home in Viborg, where Heilmann lived and Simonsen worked, to go for a walk in the woods but the alarm was raised when they failed to return.

Heilmann was eventually captured after crashing his car during a car chase with police. The crash left him with such severe injuries that doctors at Aarhus Hospital had to keep him in an artificial coma for a period.

After recovering sufficiently, Heilmann declared his guilt in the Viborg court, after which the court was closed to the public on the grounds that he is a psychiatric patient, while it heard his statement.
