In late 2020, Denmark and India stepped up relations by entering into a strategic partnership to boost the green transition in one of the biggest economies in the world.
Now, collaboration between the two countries is set to be further strengthened by the visit of India’s foreign minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to Denmark this weekend.
“Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s visit marks another milestone in the co-operation between our two nations,” said the foreign minister, Jeppe Kofod.
“During the visit, my focus will be to create ambitious results within our green strategic partnership, which we laid the foundation for during my visit to Delhi in January 2020. A concrete joint action plan is ready for that work to begin.”
As part of his visit, Jaishankar will meet with a number of Danish business leaders and discuss specific solutions within the scope of the green transition.

A new co-operation agreement pertaining to health is also expected to be signed.
“As an important regional power and one of the world’s three biggest emitters of greenhouse gases, it is essential that India leads by example when it comes to the green transition,” said Kofod.
“Danish authorities and companies can contribute with unique knowledge and specific solutions that foster a high level of ambition and promote change in India.”
During his visit, Jaishankar will also visit Queen Margrethe II and discuss other issues such as the situation in Afghanistan, climate change and COVID-19.
