Copenhagen listed among top 2023 destinations

American Express Travel have the “cool and cultured” Danish capital on its top 10 most popular travel destinations for next year

According to American Express Travel, Copenhagen should be among the most popular travel destinations in the world in 2023.

Highlighting the Danish capital’s bike-friendly infrastructure, charming canals, gastronomy gems and cafe scene, 

“A city of stark contrasts, where the royal opulence of the past blends with the minimalistic design of the present, the compact and charming city of Copenhagen is full of secrets to uncover,” wrote American Express.

“The magic of the city is palpable and an ideal place to visit for contemporary art lovers, and of course, gourmet food gurus. The bilingual culture of Copenhagen makes it a welcoming place for a solo weekend getaway, a friends’ boutique shopping trip, or a family escape.”

One for the affluent
American Express Travel even prepared a three-day itinerary for visitors looking to explore the city – clearly it was aimed at high-end clientele. 

Day one features checking in to Hotel D’Angleterre, checking out Nørrebro and dining at Geranium, while day two features trips to the Round Tower, Rosenborg Castle and a meal at Noma. 

Finally, day three includes an architectural tour by bike and a dip in Aire’s ancient baths in Carlsberg Byen.

“With their progressive attitude towards everything from fine-dining to hotel design—the Danish know how to live well,” the preview concluded.

The other nine destinations on the list are Paris, Istanbul, Lisbon, Montenegro, Fiji, Sydney, Mexico City, Vermont and the Florida Keys.
