Are you interested in politics, governance and historic Danish architecture? Then join our next Connect Club event – a guided tour of Copenhagen City Hall.

During the visit you will gain insights into the workdays of the Danish politicians who drive the country’s largest municipal government body, while discussing the significance of internationals in Danish society.

We will meet Mia Nyegaard, the Mayor of Leisure and Culture for Radikale Venstre.

Nyegaard has been a member of Radikale Venstre since 2000, and has previously held positions as the mayor of both Social Politics and Employment and Integration.

She has been the mayor of culture and leisure since 2022.

On the tour, Nyegaard will share her perspective on the importance of international labor for Danish society and how local governments are working to improve the landscape for foreign professionals.

Internationals in Denmark rarely join a trade union

Internationals are overrepresented in the lowest-paid fields of agriculture, transport, cleaning, hotels and restaurants, and construction – industries that classically lack collective agreements. A new analysis from the Workers’ Union’s Business Council suggests that internationals rarely join trade unions – but if they did, it would generate better industry standards.
