From March onwards, Copenhagen Municipality will assign two extra spray trucks to assist in washing away all the undesirables – such as urine, vomit and trash – that tend to pile up in the doorways and stairwells in the more lively parts of the city.

The Copenhagen Technical and Environment Council recently earmarked three million kroner to the improved cleaning of the city, and 2.5 million kroner of these funds are going to the two new spraying trucks.

Currently, the city has just one spraying truck that can only cater to about a quarter of the city centre area, and the two new trucks are expected to greatly assist in keeping the city clean and stench-free. But many citizens have called for more public toilets to give nightlife embracers more alternatives.

More toilets coming
”Our spray trucks are good when the damage has already been done and there is a need for them,” Morten Kabell, the deputy mayor for technical and environment issues, told Metroxpress newspaper. ”But there is also a need for more toilets so the citizens in Copenhagen aren't subjected to the stench of urine.”

”And fortunately they are on the way. We just opened a nice, manned toilet at Nørreport Station, and we have set aside funds for seven new toilets in Copenhagen. Along with the spray trucks, they will make a difference.”

Additionally, the city has set aside 500 million kroner to improve the dialogue with the city's many arrangers of concerts and events, which lead to increased trash in the streets.
