The Royal Danish Theater is no stranger to Danish Dance Theater choreographer Tim Rushton – his Love Songs, which was both a jazz concert and a dance performance, was a hit there in 2011 and 2013.
Black Diamond, featuring 16 international dancers, takes place in a futuristic universe. The sensuous, energetic choreography – inspired by light, darkness and the jewel itself – is set to music by violinist Alexander Balanescu and classical composer Philip Glass, as well as famed electronic beatsmith Trentemøller.
Black Diamond premieres at Vejle Musikteater (May 1-2) before moving to Gamle Scene the next weekend.
