Hackers stole sensitive data from Danish land register

Illegal website gives access to confidential data about people’s housing and financial situation

Foreign hackers have stolen thousands of pieces of confidential data from the Danish land register and made private information accessible to anyone on an illegal website, reports DR.

The land register (Tingbog) contains information on about 1.3 million privately-owned apartments and houses and 200,000 housing co-operatives in Denmark.

The hackers stole over 30,000 addresses, including the secret addresses of people who are under police protection, as well as information on people’s loans and financial situations.

It is not known who is behind the cyber-attack, but the website’s domain was registered by a company in the Bahamas.
