Aarhus Municipality mulling plans to shoot noisy gulls

A number of hunters will have permission to kill the birds with airguns

The city of Aarhus’ municipal council is currently deciding on what course of action to take against noisy gulls in the city that disturb residents’ sleep. Employing marksmen to kill them is reported to be strongly favoured.

The council needs to make a decision soon as the problem mostly occurs at summer, and it will be illegal to kill the gulls once their breeding season begins on April 15.

It has an agreement with 16 hunters lined up, and it is believed they will use high-velocity airguns to kill the screaming birds.

Residents and tourists often complain about the extreme noise the sea birds make during the evening and night-time hours.
