The number of large wild animals killed in traffic accidents has significantly increased since 2008, according to research from Naturstyrelsen, which is called out to many animal traffic accidents.  

The research found that there have been 30,000 traffic accidents involving wild animals – particular bigger wild animals like deer – between 2003 and 2012.

From 2003 to 2008, around 2,700 wild animals were killed or injured in traffic accidents every year. However, the number increased to over 4,300 in 2012.  

The total number could be even as high as 150,000 over ten years, conceded Naturstyrelsen.
