Kadeau Bornholm, a seaside restaurant on the island of Bornholm, has been named on a list of the top 200 restaurants in Europe for the first time.
Coming in at 23rd on the Opinionated About Dining (OAD) website’s list, the Pedersker eatery finished ahead of some acclaimed Danish names like Geranium, which earlier this year received its third Michelin star.
“It’s amazing and somewhat surprising,” restaurant manager Nicholas Nørregaard told DR Nyheder. “We are in good company.”

Kadeau has restaurants on Bornholm and in Copenhagen. The Copenhagen location also made the top 200, albeit behind its sister location on the island this year.
“Many important people from the gastro-world have visited Bornholm in the past year, and they have had such a good experience they have voted for us,” said Nørregaard.
Doesn’t feel all that arduous
“The summer home of Kadeau can rival any other restaurant in terms of remoteness,” enthused Kadeau Bornholm’s review on the Opinionated About Dining website
“Why do diners make the arduous trek to this island 250 kilometres north of Poland? Two reasons: the unusual and amazing ingredients that are raised on the island, and the talented team of Nikolai Nørregaard and Rasmus and Magnus Kofoed.”
Reviewers called Kadeau Bornholm’s menu “a travelogue of Nordic cooking” and described their experience as “the best dinner of the year”.
Of the 10 Danish restaurants on the 2016 list, Noma finished the highest at number five. The full list is available here.
