It remains unclear what caused the death of a young Danish tourist on a youth holiday to the popular Bulgarian tourist spot Golden Sands in Varna.
The young man was on a holiday booked with DUF Travel, and both the travel agency and the Foreign Ministry have confirmed his death.
“We can confirm that a Danish citizen has died in Bulgaria, but cannot comment further due to confidentiality,” the duty officer at the Foreign Ministry said. “His family has been informed.”
Deeply shocked
DUF marketing coordinator Rasmus Jørgensen said that his guides are “deeply shocked” at the death of the young man.
“We will be meeting to talk about it,” Jørgensen told Ekstra Bladet. “I will try to make sure that the guides do not take it too personally.”
Jørgensen would not comment on how the man died.
“There are many different interpretations and stories,” he said. “The doctors have not given a cause of death and I do not want to speculate.”
Jørgensen did say that the young Dane passed away at a hotel in Varna.
