Select Shopping | Soaking up sustenance in the sun

At the risk of jinxing it, I’m just going to say it: spring is finally here! On these long-awaited sunny days, what could be better than sitting down at the outdoor table of a restaurant and enjoying a nice meal as you soak up the sun?

Beau Marche
Should you find yourself downtown in desperate need of refreshment and you’re not one for crowds, this should be your go-to place. Beau Marche is a small wine café run by a brother and sister who grew up in France. It offers some delicious wines and snacks to choose from, which you can enjoy outside in their cosy courtyard. They also have a delicatessen and some beautiful French designer ware for sale, so you can take a little piece of Paris with you when you leave.
Ny Østergade 32, Cph K; open Mon-Sat 12:00-24:00; 5577 1430

Mother
For the truly trendy, Kødbyen, the meatpacking district, is a regular hangout spot. And no wonder when it has such great restaurants as Mother, a low-key Italian restaurant with a focus on friendly service and quality ingredients. Their menu of authentic Italian dishes changes regularly, but the sourdough pizzas baked in a wood-fire oven are always available. Follow your meal with a tasty cup of espresso as you soak up the sun on their wooden benches outside.

Høkerboderne 9-15, Cph V; open Sun-Wed: 11:00-23:00, Thu-Sat: 11:00-01:00; 2227 5898

Allégade 10
Within walking distance from the zoo, you’ll find Allégade 10. Established in 1780, it is one of Copenhagen’s oldest restaurants.  With over 300 seats, the restaurant is quite big and, besides delicious traditional Danish food, it offers some attractive features such as its own bar, pool tables and even foosball tables. The most attractive feature of all, though, are the 200 seats outside in their garden. After all, what could be better than enjoying a nice slice of smørrebrød in the Danish sun?

Allégade 10, Frederiksberg; open daily 10:00-22:00; 3331 1751

Brew Pub
Tucked away at the top of Vestergade is Brew Pub, a lovely little microbrewery with an enticing selection of food and drinks. You can choose between the sophisticated restaurant menu or the humbler pub menu, but either way you can enjoy your meal with some of the finest beer and ale in the city. And the best part? You can enjoy it all in their beautiful beer garden.

Vestergade 29, Cph K; open Mon-Thu 12:00-23:00, Fri-Sat 12:00-22:00, Sun closed, NB: the pub has different opening hours; 3332 0060
