Technical problems on the S-train network have forced rail infrastructure administrator Banedanmark to halt service on all lines, except for line F. Some 100,000 people could be affected by the disruption, which is expected to continue into rush hour.
The problems are due to a faulty electical wire that is causing damage to trains. Niether railway operator DSB nor Banedanmark could predict when the normal train service would start up again.
“This will affect many passengers and, naturally, we are very sorry,” Claus Christiansen, a spokesperson for Banedanmark, told Ekstrabladet newspaper. “We will try and instruct passengers how they can get around this, but it will drastically influence the passengers.”
About 300,000 passengers use the S-trains every day.
Between Valby and Hellerup, passengers can take a regional or Øresunds train. Coaches will be serving the following routes:
København H- Køge
Valby- Høje Taastrup
Valby- Frederikssund
Svanemøllen- Farum
Hellerup- Hillerød
Hellerup- Klampenborg
DSB warned that a lack of buses could mean tight spaces and extended waiting times.
