From June 1, an 18 metre-long ferry able to carry 36 passengers and the same number of bicycles will be plying the waters between Dragør in Denmark and Limhamn in Sweden.
Plans have been underway for a number of years now, but it has taken a while to get the necessary planning permission sorted out.
The route has existed before, but ceased to operate in 1999 ahead of the bridge across the Sound opening in July 2000, News Øresund reports.
The vessel, a converted fishing boat named M/S Elephanten, will make three trips in each direction in June, July and August. The crossing is estimated to take one hour.
The route will be inaugurated at 09:00 on June 1 and there will be an official ceremony on the quayside at Dragør on June 3.
