Roskilde adds The National to 2013 lineup

American band is the latest act booked for the July festival

Roskilde Festival revealed in an announcement this morning that indie band The National will return to the festival again this summer.

The Brooklyn-based rockers will arrive in Denmark this July fresh off the release of their sixth record, Trouble Will Find Me, set to come out on May 20. Their concert at Roskilde will be the first opportunity in Scandinavia to hear the new material live.

This year will mark The National’s second performance at Roskilde Festival, the first of which took place in 2010 in promotion of their then-newly-released album High Violet. Festival officials called The National’s previous albums such as Alligator and Boxer  “modern classics filled with a wide, romantic appeal to Scandinavian hearts and minds”.

Reactions to the announcement on Roskilde’s Facebook page have already been overwhelmingly positive, despite earlier criticism that the festival was bringing back too many acts that have already played in previous years.

Tickets for Roskilde Festival, which will take place from June 29 through July 7, are currently on sale. The full list of bands playing at the festival can be found here.
