UPDATE: Björk’s Roskilde gig apparently going forward

Icelandic singer calls off a string of shows but Roskilde appearance seems safe … for now

UPDATE – MAY 11, 10:44AM:: A post on Icelandic singer Björk's Facebook page indicates that she will play at the Roskilde Festival after all. In the statement, she writes that festival apperances at Spain's Primavera Sound, Portugal's Optimus Primavera Sound, Hungary's Balaton Sound, and Russia's Afisha Picnic are cancelled. There is no mention of the Roskilde show, indicating that it is moving forward as planned.

ORIGINAL – MAY 10, 10:03AM: Björk will apparently not be one of the headliners at this year’s Roskilde Festival after all. According to the website efestivals, the Icelandic singer has cancelled all of her festival appearances in June and July, including a headlining turn on the Orange Stage.

Roskilde organisers, however, are saying that there is still a chance Björk will play at the festival.

The festival's official Twitter account has responded with several inquiries to the cancellation by tweeting: "We've asked and the word from Björk's people is that they expect her to be ready for #rf12." #RF12 is the Twitter hashtag being used with Roskilde Festival tweets.

However, organisers of the Heineken Balaton Sound festival, held in Hungary just a few days after Roskilde, have confirmed that Björk has cancelled her show there.

Efestival reports that the singer has cancelled recent shows in South America due to a polyp that is affecting her vocal chords. She was advised by doctors to rest her voice.

Björk was the first official announcement of this year’s Roskilde Festival.
