At Designmuseum Danmark in the heart of Copenhagen, dive into the various eras of collector-mania that have shaped Danish design history, discover new contemporary designers and get insight into future design trends for creative solutions to global problems.

The museum exhibits every facet of Danish proud design tradition, which will unfold even more spectacularly this summer in the large new permanent exhibition DANISH MODERN.

Danish design is famous all over the world, but who were the great Danish designers of the 20th century?

The exhibition DANISH MODERN tells the story of Danish design from the 1920s until the 1970s and shows some of the most iconic Danish design objects throughout time.

The exhibition invites you on a design journey from furniture professor Kaare Klint’s ‘Room for a Woman’, over Finn Juhl’s organic and elegant furniture to Verner Panton and Nanna Ditzel’s avant-garde pop designs.

It’s a fascinating journey through everything we now know as Danish design icons – mixed with unknown designs by well-known designers.

Danish chairs from floor to ceiling
In the new exhibition, you can go from room to room through the immersive exhibition design, which stages the different eras and designers. At the center of the exhibition, the various designers in Danish design history are displayed, separated by walls in different shapes reminiscent of the backdrop in a theatre.

Here, you can get close to the designers who designed Danish Modern through their personal belongings, drawings, and archive material.

DANISH MODERN also brings back the popular ‘chair tunnel’ in a new, larger iteration with 125 chairs from floor to ceiling.

Visit the green museum garden
In the middle of the museum, you’ll find Copenhagen’s greenest museum garden, where you can enjoy a break under the linden trees or a good lunch in the sun from the acclaimed museum café.

You can also shop for design gifts in the museum shop, which offers both classics and new, unique design finds. It is free for anyone under the age of 18 to visit the museum.
