Asian Street Party

This weekend, Pumpehuset opens its doors to a whole continent when Asian Street Party invades Studiestrædet this Saturday. Vietnamese restaurateurs LêLê Street Kitchen and Singaporean Tiger Beer are teaming up to bring the best of Asia to Copenhagen, with food stalls, live music and entertainment for both children and adults.

LêLêLê Streetkitchen on H.C Andersens Boulevard is owned by the entrepreneurial Lê family, whose cooking from their native Vietnam has earned them not only culinary success, with three restaurants and a catering firm, but also a certain amount of media fame. In 2009 a documentary following their successes, ‘De Jyske Vietnamesere’, aired on DR2 and last year daughter Anh Lê took center stage on the cooking program ‘Spis Vietnam’. Watch her live on Saturday as she makes the perfect spring roll or perhaps the ultimate wonton.

There will be heaps of activities for both the little and large, with face-painting, table tennis, henna tattoos and a magician. Those who are looking for both the little and large, with face-painting, table tennis, henna tattoos and a magician. Those who are looking to be entertained will not be disappointed with live music, martial arts demonstration and a dragon train all on the program.

There’s also a chance for those who wish to relive their gap-year nocturnal adventures as the celebration carries on till dark, with street lanterns and a DJ-set. So dig out your best full-moon gear, bring your kids and an appetite (and possibly a sweater–we are still in Denmark after all).
