Jylllands-Posten newspaper reports that the head of Billund Airport, Kjeld Zacho Jørgensen, has met with members of Aarhus City Council to discuss a potential co-operation agreement between Tirstrup and Billund airports.

Shared interest
“It’s a possibility. When you ask at Billund Airport where most of the passengers come from, the answer is Aarhus," Niels Højberg, the city manager at Aarhus City Council, told Jyllands-Posten.

"Visit Aarhus already has a tourist information centre at Billund Airport, so looking through Aarhus glasses, it’s obviously an interesting co-operation with Billund to help Aarhus residents get out of the country. Obviously there’s a shared interest, because a lot of people  from Aarhus use Billund Airport.”

Shared code
The airports may come to share facilities in the future. “If Billund is busy for a spell, it could make sense to use the facilities in Aarhus,” Højberg told Jyllands-Posten, adding that the airports may even come to share the same three-letter airport code.

“We are of course interested in the airport code, so that’s something we’ll bring up,” Jørgensen told Jyllands-Posten. He is of the opinion that sharing the code could make it more attractive for international travelers to visit Aarhus, because they would be presented with both Tirstrup and Billund in search engines.
