SAS is pulling the plug on its winter route between Geneva and Helsinki. The company had already shut down eight summer flights from Helsinki to other European destinations.
“Route adaptation in Finland is an economic priority for SAS,” company spokesperson Trine Kromann-Mikkelsen wrote in the SAS magazine Check-in.
“It is most profitable for us to operate in the domestic markets of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, so we are focusing our efforts on flights to, from and within Scandinavia and on Scandinavian travellers.”

In addition to its Scandinavian hub routes, SAS is maintaining a single summer route from Helsinki to Spilt in Croatia – a holdover from last year.
Open to options
“Looking at options for profitable leisure routes to and from Helsinki and the rest of Europe, it is still interest of interest to SAS,” said Kromann-Mikkelsen,
She also stressed that Helsinki remains an important market for SAS and that the number of departures to and from the Finnish city to Copenhagen and Stockholm would remain the same.
