Replace your A1300 charger before it goes up in flames

Worried customers flocked to the Danish Humac stores on Saturday after Apple recalled a million iPhone chargers. The chargers in question bear the serial number A1300 and were sold with iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S and as a standalone accessory.

According to a statement released by Apple on Friday, the specific chargers pose a safety risk as they may overheat and in rare cases could actually catch fire.

There may be around one million inflammable iPhone chargers in Denmark, estimates MereMobil.dk. Those who already upgraded to iPhone 5 may now be using the updated model instead.

Get it replaced for free
In response, Apple has launched a replacement program in 47 affected countries, meaning that owners of A1300 chargers in Denmark may bring the charger and the phone to local Mac dealer Humac and get a free replacement.

"All customers are welcome here no matter where they purchased the product," the head of Humac, Michael Bech, told MereMobil.dk.

"Bring your phone and your charger. It will take four to five days to get it replaced unless we get some faster deliveries from Apple."

Customers at the phone company Call Me may call customer service and get a new charger by mail, while Telenor have bought a stash of new chargers so people can bring a new one home on the same day.

It's still unclear if Apple or the retailers will cover the expenses of the replacement program in the end, MereMobil.dk reports.
