From tourist information to music, its a Copenhagen sound itinerary

Taking a leisurely stroll through Denmark's capital will offer a completely novel experience thanks to the interactive location-based audio tour Soundwalk Project, which is set to run in Copenhagen this autumn.

Anyone can rent a device equipped with an app and use headphones to perceive landscapes through sound. Walking around the city, you hear audio as you pass through the streets.

The Soundwalk app will play sounds such as touristic information, music, historical background, stories by local residents, environmental tones from a point, like surround sound.

From Hanoi to Copenhagen
The Soundwalk took place in Hanoi last year for the first time in Asia. This year is going to be repeated with some new initiatives, including the Copenhagen tour.

There aren't any confirmed dates yet, because the small team based in Hanoi is seeking support through an online crowdfunding campaign to cover development and administrative costs.

"Last year, the project was unfunded, but we still made it happen. This year we’re doing it in two cities at opposite ends of the world, Copenhagen and Hanoi," The Soundwalk Project wrote on its website.

"And offering two sound artists from those cities a unique opportunity to create a work of art for a new medium. In those two cities, the walk will be completely free for participants."

Hans Sydow, the Danish composer and sound artist, is involved on Copenhagen's end, while Lương Huệ Trinh, a Vietnamese composer and sound artist, is involved in Hanoi.

They’ve already attracted support from the Danish Embassy in Hanoi’s Cultural Development and Exchange Fund and the Danish Composers Association, DJBFA, but to realise the project they need a minimum of $5000.

As of now, they have raised just over $1,505 on their fundraising site.
