Christmas at the cinema

Happy Holidays folks. During our hiatus over the next two weeks, look out for the Ridley Scott biblical epic Exodus: Gods & Kings (out on the 25th), Mark Wahlberg on the edge in The Gambler (Jan 1) and Mike Leigh’s long awaited biopic of British master painter JW Turner – starring Timothy Spall as the eponymous Turner (Jan 1).

There’s also Penguins of Madagascar (18th) and Horrible Bosses 2 (25th) for those inclined. This issue we review the Belfast-set period thriller ’71, which opens this week.

For offerings more in tune with the festive season, be sure to check Cinemateket, which is screening classic Disney features and Frank Capra’s It’s A Wonderful Life to name but a few ( dfi.dk/Filmhuset)
