Today’s date: Blixen’s birthday

Came out in Rungsted, and then out of Africa

On this day in 1885 one of Denmark’s most famous authors, Karen Blixen, was born in Rungsted. Also known by her pen name Isak Dinesen, Blixen is best known for the book ‘Out of Africa’, which is her account of her life in Kenya. Her other notable works include Babette’s Feast and Seven Gothic Tales.
