Out and About: Bakken bikers mark first day of spring

For many Copenhageners, the noise of their engines marks the first day of spring, and the evening of Thursday March 26 was no different as around 10,000 motorbikes congregated on Nørrebros Runddel to head off to Bakken Amusement Park to mark its official opening.

The bikes left at around 7pm and the first drivers arrived 20 minutes later. Escorted by the police all the way, thousands took to the road to admire the procession.

A tradition since 1965, which makes this year the 50th anniversary, the event has evolved from one with a focus on gang allegiance to a family occasion.
