Hello Joe: Danish PM to visit White House

A date for Mette Frederiksen to meet with Joe Biden has yet to be set, according to the PM’s office

PM Mette Frederiksen is set to further strengthen Danish ties with the US by meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House. 

The PM’s office said a date has yet to be set for the meeting, but plans are afoot to schedule a meeting between the two heads of state.

“I had the pleasure of speaking with President Biden several times during the NATO summit in Madrid in June,” Frederiksen said, according to DR Nyheder.

“And in connection with that, I received a personal invitation to the White House from the president.”

Ukraine and climate agenda?
Discussions between the two will likely relate to NATO-related topics, such as the War in Ukraine, but also green energy initiatives. 

In a press statement yesterday, the Biden Administration unveiled plans to expand US capabilities in regards to offshore wind energy – something that Denmark has ample expertise in doing. 

“The President set a bold goal of deploying 30 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind by 2030: enough to power 10 million homes with clean energy, support 77,000 jobs, and spur private investment up and down the supply chain,” the White House wrote.
