Can’t sleep? Jam with Jazz instead!

With the Copenhagen Jazz Festival currently going on, there are many great events to enjoy but for those looking to continue well into the early hours of the morning Jazzhus Montmartre’s late night jam sessions are a must.

Happening every night from now until July 14, Montmartre is Copenhagen’s leading jazz club. During the 1960s and early 1970s this establishment was one of the most legendary clubs of the European jazz scene, with famous artists from around the world, such as Miles Davis and Dexter Gordon, calling it home during their stays in Copenhagen.

After a silent period this club is now back bigger and better than ever in it’s original location, meeting with international fanfare. Already Montmartre has played host to a plethora of great artists and this promises to continue with their late night jam sessions throughout the jazz festival.

This year young rising American pianist, composer and multi-instrumentalist, David Bryant, is fronting the jam sessions. Joining him in the ‘Trio Montmartre’ are Danish musicians Jonathan Bremer on bass, and Niclas Bardeleben on drums.

Whilst mum’s the word from Montmartre insiders on who will be making special performances during these sessions, they do say that amazing jazz musicians visiting for the festival will drop in, creating unique moments for those lucky enough to catch them.

Always a great party at Montmartre, this intimate venue creates a jazzy, Mad Men-ish atmosphere that even non-connoisseurs of jazz are bound to enjoy, so for high quality performances that are sure to impress head along to the clubs late night jam sessions before it’s too late.

Jazzhus Montmartre; Store Regnegade 19A, Copenhagen K, 1110; 6-14 July; 11.00pm; Tickets 80kr – ph: 7015 6565 or billetnet.dk
