Police found a secret child in the home of a Helsingør family that had already had six children removed from them by the social services.
The child was found hidden under a blanket behind a car in the garage when the police searched the couple’s house after suspecting them of unrelated criminal activity.
According to Helsingør Dagblad newspaper, the child was in a poor physical and mental condition and was immediately removed by the social services.
The parents have not seen the child since it was removed in August. The social services were unaware that the child existed, as it was apparently born in secret and never registered with the authorities.
The child is thought to be about four years old but social services will have the child’s bones measured to determine a more specific age.
The parents are now being charged with abuse according to Helsingør Dagblad and may face up to two years in prison.
The couple’s other six children, three boys and three girls, were removed after they were kept isolated in the family home on Skovgårdsvej.
Police found 340,000 kroner in cash during the raid that has now been handed over to the tax authorities, Skat.
