Danish export of energy technology booming

The BRICS-nations imported for 6.9 billion kroner in 2013, almost 25 percent more than the previous year

The Danish export of energy technology rose by almost 11 percent to 67.6 billion kroner in 2013, while the export of green energy technology increased by 17.6 percent, according to figures from an export report that the industry advocates DI and the Climate, Energy and Building Ministry revealed today.

The report showed that Danish energy technology exports have been on the rise over the past three years and is only three percent short of reaching the record figures set in 2008.

“Those are impressive numbers,” Rasmus Helveg Petersen, the climate, energy and building minister, said in a press release. “In future, there will be a increasing need for solutions for the production of sustainable energy forms and for a better utilisation of the energy we produce. Here, Danish companies can excel.”

More tech, bitte
Export growth is primarily caused by the huge progress made in the European market. Exports of energy tech to Germany almost doubled last year and now make up 22.8 percent of the total. Exports to other EU member states also increased to the tune of seven billion kroner.

Furthermore, the BRIC nations imported 6.9 billion kroner's worth in 2013, which is almost 25 percent more than the previous year.

“It is very important for the Danish energy sector that there is a good and stable framework surrounding EU’s energy policies, and we look forward to seeing that framework being solidified looking ahead to 2030,” Hans Peter Slente, a DI spokesperson, said in the press release.

Slente went on to contend that conditions and the framework for Danish companies must be top notch if Denmark wishes to maintain its strong position within energy technology.
