It had to come to an end, and on May 3 it finally did as the reigning Mermaid Bowl champions, the Copenhagen Towers, lost their 14-game unbeaten record to the Swedish champions, the Karlstad Crusaders, in the IFAF European Champions League.
The Towers, making their debut in the continent’s most prestigious club tournament, led 17-7 at one point during the second quarter, but in the end the experience of the 2010-13 national champs showed as the hosts eased to a 34-24 win in front of 1,370 fans.
Casper Jensen (pictured with the ball) was announced Towers MVP of the game.
