The chances of landing a job in the private sector improved considerably in the first quarter of the year after the number of vacant positions rose by 26 percent compared to the same period in 2013, according to figures from Danmarks Statistic.
The statistics showed there were 23,000 open positions of employment in the private sector – 4,800 more than the first quarter of last year.
“It’s absolutely brilliant,” Jan Størup Nielsen, a senior analyst at Nordea Bank, told Jyllands-Posten newspaper. “At the same time employment has been rising, so it’s a clear sign that the upswing is taking hold.”

Capital region top
The number of available positions compared to the sum of available and occupied positions increased by 1.5 percent, which is the highest rise since they began keeping records in 2010.
“It’s surprising that it’s happened so quickly in the labour market,” Nielsen said. “It’s a clear picture that Denmark’s economy is enjoying sustained growth.”
The share and numbers of available vacancies was greatest in the capital region with 1.8 percent and 10,000 available positions, while it was lowest in North Jutland with 1.1 percent and just 1,500 positions.
