Copenhagen has fewest unemployed young people

Deputy mayor said that there is still much work to be done

A new survey has shown that unemployment among people under the age of 30 in Copenhagen is the lowest out of the nation’s six largest cities.

Anna Mee Allerslev, the deputy mayor for employment and integration issues, argued that the result was an important milestone.

“We have invested massively and prioritised politically,” Allerslev said according to Metroxpress newspaper. “We must continue providing quick help and maintain our good relationship with the education institutions.”

Helping the vulnerable
Unemployment among citizens under the age of 30 in the capital was at 5.9 percent in 2013, 0.8 percent lower than the national average and 1.1 percent lower than the average of the nation’s six largest cities.

Allerslev stated that despite the good news, the city needs to be even better at helping vulnerable young people who face other trials and tribulations not related to unemployment.
