SAS closes two more routes

Airline cancels departures with just a week’s notice

As part of its ongoing budget cuts, SAS is closing two of its routes, the aviation industry news site Check-in reports.

The route between Copenhagen and Turku in Finland will officially close on July 28, but maintenance work at Turku from June 30 will means that the last flight will be at the end of this month.

The other affected route, between Stockholm and Birmingham, will be cancelled from June 27.

“When we close routes or reduce capacity, it’s to do with the routes’ profitability, which hasn’t been sufficient,” SAS’s head of press relations, Trine Kromann-Mikkelsen, told Check-in.

Passengers who have already bought tickets will be rebooked on transfer flights at other airports.
