Festival brings Emerald Isle to Copenhagen

Look forward to two days of winter cheer as Copenhagen’s Irish Festival jumps into life.

Traditional dance and music will light up the Copenhagen Music School with two days of performances and concerts.  

From its humble beginnings in 1978, the festival has continued to grow and this year’s packed schedule and happy hours are guaranteed to deliver plenty of Irish craic well into the small hours. 

The concert hall lobby will get a pub-style makeover as afternoon music sessions are followed by additional performances after the main event. Blow the dust off that old violin and try your hand at jamming – Éire style – in the open session from 3pm on Saturday.  

Friday’s concert will see Seamus Cahill (vocals and guitar) and Sonnich Lydom (accordion and harmonica) take to the stage to perform some Irish music at its finest. And then the night will be rounded off by dance ensemble Trad Lads and Green Steps performing energetic tap and traditional Irish dance.

Paddy Lawless and Markus Tullberg bring us tunes from the glen on Saturday night with a fiddle masterclass.  

The festival’s final instalment is Dallahan, an acclaimed group of Scottish musicians who play music from the green island with a modern celtic twist.

The festival brings St Patrick’s Day a little closer this November, with two packed days of music and dance in the heart of Copenhagen.
