Tivoli, the queen and the Nutcracker: what could be more festive and Danish?

The final preparations are underway for Tivoli’s Christmas ballet production, ‘The Nutcracker’, ahead of its premiere on November 20. This production will be extra special because the set and the costumes for the ballet have been designed by Queen Margrethe.

Last week on Wednesday, Queen Margrethe and Tivoli’s head of ballet, Peter Bo Bendixen (above), talked to the press about their version of this much-loved ballet.

The production is perfectly timed because its story revolves around the festive period and much of the dancing – by an international cast representing 19 different nationalities –  is done at the foot of a giant Christmas tree!
