Would you like to learn more about the way children are taken care of and educated at the various preschool institutions in Denmark?

Perhaps you have just relocated to Copenhagen with small children in tow and are wondering what types of services local nurseries, kindergartens and playgroups offer.

Expert insights
You can take a guided tour led by Danish experts and visit various daycare centres and playgrounds in the capital to get an idea of how the system works.
Jytte Hare, Ulla Liberg and Erik Sigsgaard, who are behind the initiative, are all child education experts and have many years of experience teaching young children.

The tours can be booked online at kindergartentours.com and are offered in Danish, Swedish and English.

Popular tradition
In Denmark, daycare institutions have a long tradition and are attended by most children.

In fact, nearly all children (97.2 percent) aged 3-5 years old go to a kindergarten, while 85.4 percent of those aged 6-9 years old attend an afterschool club, according to 2014 figures provided by Statistics Denmark.
