You can still make it to Holmegaard Værk to see ‘Picasso – A Tribute to Ceramics’ before the show closes on October 23.

A nice day trip 
Holmegaard Værk, which opened at the former glass factory Holmegaard in 2020, is a new museum dedicated to glass, ceramic and design.

It is an hour’s drive from Copenhagen, so a nice day trip, and if you are up for a meal on your outing the restaurant, also called Holmegaard, has some of the best open-faced sandwiches in Denmark. 

Refreshing scenography 
The ceramic works from the American Rosenbaum Collection are being shown for the first time in Denmark. It is a small exhibition of 42 pieces, which is very nice, since you can indulge in each piece without getting overwhelmed.

The scenography of the show is bold and courageous, which is quite rare at Danish museums. For example, Picasso’s famous striped T-shirt has provided the inspiration for the decoration of the pillars and even the clothing worn by the staff.

It is very well composed, with an ‘Owl-Tree’ in the middle of the exhibition surrounded with sitting spaces that invite you to take it all in. Each ceramic piece is protected by beautiful handmade glass crafted by the skilled craftspeople at Holmegaard Værk. They are placed so one can walk around each work and see it from all sides. 

Workshops and masters at work
While at Holmegaard Værk you can also experience the open glass studio where outstanding international glass blowers show off their skills. 

Or you can participate in one of the many ceramic, glass and design workshops and masterclasses.
