About Carlsberg’s Legacy and the Museum

Founded in 1847 by visionary brewer J.C. Jacobsen, Carlsberg has grown from a modest brewery into a global icon of quality be. Jacobsen’s passion for brewing and dedication to scientific research laid the foundation for modern brewing technique. His commitment to excellence and innovation not only elevated Danish brewing but also had a profound impact on the global beer industry.

The Home of Carlsberg is more than just a museum; it’s an immersive experience located in the heart of J.C. Jacobsen’s original brewer. Spanning 3,000 square meters, the exhibition offers interactive displays that chronicle Carlsberg’s journey from its inception to its current status as a brewing gin. Visitors can explore historical artifacts, learn about the brewing process, and even meet the majestic draught horses that have been part of Carlsberg’s heritage.

The museum also delves into the cultural contributions of the Jacobsen family, including their patronage of the arts and significant architectural landmarks in Copenhae. One notable contribution is the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, founded by Carl Jacobsen, which houses an extensive collection of art and sculptures.

The Home of Carlsberg has undergone a thorough, five-year renovation, and opened for visitors again in December 2023.
