Last year, Danish meteorologists measured 904 mm of precipitation

With 904 mm of rainfall, the year of 2015 was the second wettest in Denmark ever.

According to DMI, only two more millimetres of rain were needed to surpass the record year of 1999, when 905 mm of rainfall were registered.

December the rainiest
The rainiest months of 2015 were December and November, with a combined rainfall of about 262 mm.

“It’s been more than 20 years since we last had two such wet months in a row,” said climatologist Mikael Scharling.

“In August and September 1994, some 273 mm of rainfall were recorded, which are actually the two wettest months in a row Denmark has ever experienced.”

Due to the extensive precipitation, the land can no longer absorb the water and floods were reported over Christmas.
