Cyclists to get a break as Nørreport renovation enters new phase

Crossing at Nørregade and Vendersgade will finish, opening the area up for cyclists

The renovation of Nørreport Station enters a new phase today that will improve accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. The station's renovation is now at its halfway point, which means that construction that has closed the crossing between Nørregade and Vendersgade will finish, opening the area up for cyclists.

This should clear up much of the chaos cyclists have had to deal with, including obstacles such as road signs, fences and, above all, foot traffic.

The many buses that stop at Nørreport will also get a new spot on the newly-opened space, so the 250,000 daily passersby will have to find out where their buses have been relocated. Bus company Movia will have personnel on hand all around the station to help people find their way to the right bus.

The next part of the 'Ny Nørreport' project is the renovation of the space between Gothersgade and Frederiksborggade, with construction set to finish in May 2014, which is when cars will first be allowed to pass through the station's surrounding streets.
