Copenhagen Police carried out a large-scale action in the freetown of Christiania today.
Reports of a heavy police presence began being reported on the Facebook page Politi razzia på Christiania? (police raid in Christiania?) around 12:30pm and police later confirmed to Ritzau that they were out in large numbers.
“I can confirm that we are out there and we are looking for cannabis,” police commissioner Steffen Steffensen told Ritzau.

A source told The Copenhagen Post that approximately 30 police officers were involved and that a large area of the alternative enclave was cordoned off with police tape.
“They had the whole area closed off within minutes and dozens of police guarding the entrance points and watching from above Nemoland,” the source, who did not wish to be named, said. “I’d say over 30 and all in riot gear. It was quite calm though.”
According to the Politi razzia page, the police “stormed” Christiania shortly after 12:30pm. The site, which encourages users to tip one another off about the presence of police, was filled with photos of police officers and police vehicles.
A post from 1:47pm stated that the police had left Christiania and alluded to rumours that Christiania residents and guests had thrown stones at the police, although that was disputed by users of the site.
