The government parties behind Medieaftale 2012-2014, the state allocation of media licencing funds, have signed an agreement on the distribution of 60 million kroner in surplus licencing revenue.
Half of those funds – 29.8 million kroner – will be used to finance the staging of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen. Emmelie De Forest's victory in Sweden this year gives Denamrk the honour of staging next year's extravaganza in May.

Nearly 13 million will go to the local TV2 outlets to compensate for the loss of former appropriations.
The final 17 million kroner will go to the public service fund, which is earmarked for television projects done in collaboration with various broadcasters and film production companies, pending approval by the EU.

Marianne Jelved (R), the culture minister, was happy to sign off on the deal.
“I am very glad that we were able to agree to give DR an economic boost to produce the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark in May of next year,” Jelved said in a statement. “This a huge event that attracts millions of viewers not only in Denmark but throughout Europe and will help increase interest in Denmark around the world.”
Jelved said that she was also pleased that funds had found their way to local TV and film production.
