Caution advised for morning commute

Roads are icy in spots and could be dangerously slippery this morning

Frozen precipitation – ice in some places, snow in others – has caused road agency Vejdirektoratet to issue a warning to those headed out for this morning’s commute.

”It is very slippery out there. We have had salt trucks out all night on the major roads,” said Anders Bach Sørensen.”There is a dangerous layer of ice in many places, especially in southern Zealand.”

Sørensen said he has extra crews working and advised motorists to drive carefully and allow extra time for the commute.

There were no reports of serious weather-related accidents overnight.

DSB reported that the the weather was impacting some routes in northern Jutland this morning, but that commuter train traffic in the rest of the country was on schedule.

Weather service DMI forecasts that today’s anticipated five to ten centimetres of snow would not be melting anytime soon, as temperatures are expected to remain well below freezing and blustery winds will be the order of the day for most of the upcoming week.
