Railway work to hamper train services this summer

If you’re planning to travel around Denmark by train this summer, it might be a good idea to stock up on some patience and a good deal of extra time.
That’s because the national rail infrastructure company Banedanmark is planning a massive overhaul over the summer months, focusing on the upgrading and maintenance of current rail stretches and the establishment of new stretches.
“The consequences are that some trains will be cancelled, and in certain areas they are not even operational,” Tony Bispeskov, the head of traffic information for rail operator DSB, told DR Nyheder.
“Instead we have prepared buses, but it means that passengers will experience more trouble and spend more time commuting.”

A busy summer
Bispeskov urged all passengers to avoid further problems by checking DSB’s website or the train schedules on rejseplanen.dk to keep abreast of any changes.
The summer season is a traditionally busy time when it comes to repairing the railway, but the work has been scheduled during the summer break, at night and on the weekend to trouble as few passengers as possible.
Banedanmark undertake about 1,000 counts of rail work annually, 400 of which conflict with passenger travel plans.
