Statistics office failing on data protection

Report highlights deficiencies in Danmarks Statistik’s system

The public audit body Rigsrevisoren has concluded in a report regarding the public sector's handling of confidential information that the national statistics office, Danmarks Statistik, doesn’t live up to security requirements.

The particular problem is that the organisation’s system doesn’t keep a detailed enough record of which of its employees have looked up items containing personal data.

Danmarks Statistik said in a press release that it would work to change the relevant IT systems in order to be compliant during 2015.
