Denmark more plugged in than anywhere else

The country finished top in an international survey on internet and mobile phone use

Denmark has been named the world's "most connected" country based on mobile phone and internet use.

According to the latest International Telecommunication Union report – which rates the level of access, use and skills in using information and communication technologies in 166 countries – the Nordic countries have dominated this year’s assessment.

Sweden ranked third, followed by Iceland. While Norway and Finland ended up sixth and eighth respectively.

Europe the most connected
With eight of the top 10 rankings, Europe proved to be the most connected region, and Africa the least.

The data suggests there will be almost 3 billion internet users by the end of this year, with two-thirds of them coming from the developing world – a 40 percent increase.

However, some 450 million people still live outside the reach of a mobile signal.
