Early February events: All eyes on the track

6-Day Race
Jan 29-Feb 3; Ballerup Super Arena, Ballerup Idrætsby 4, Ballerup; standing tickets: 210kr; 6dageslob.dk

In the good old days, the cyclists used to ride for six days straight around the steep banks of the arena at Frederiksberg’s Forum.

Now the the biggest track cycling event of the year has moved to Ballerup, but the traditions remain: music blaring out all day as the oompah 6-day waltz song gets the inebriated revellers on their feet.

Participants compete in pairs to complete the highest number of laps in a specified time.

So if you like the idea of well-toned men in tight shorts holding hands at high speeds, get on your bike to Ballerup and witness a classic piece of Danish culture: the 6-day race!
