More TDC jobs may be headed out of the country

Denmark’s largest telecom is looking less and less, well, Danish

Since 2006, nearly half of the Danish jobs at the telecommunications giant TDC have disappeared, and it appears even more may be on their way out of the country, reports Jyllands-Posten.

It is believed that the company will soon outsource up to 3,000 additional jobs.

Sources close to the process said that management is ready to cut deeply into the daily operations of TDC's terrestrial telecommunications networks as a cost-cutting move.

"Overall, it could end up that TDC outsources up to 3,000 jobs,” an employee who wished to remain anonymous told Jyllands-Posten.

TDC currently employs 7,600 people in Denmark. That is nearly half the 2006 total of 14,000 jobs when five private equity funds took over ownership of the company.

TDC refused to make any specific comments regarding the cuts.

“Things are progressing, but our work is not finished, so we will not comment on the details of the plan we have in place,” TDC spokesperson Ib Konrad Jensen told Jyllands-Posten.
