Netto employee to dumpster divers: “I pissed on your food”

Store says urinating on discarded food is “not company policy”

A Netto employee in the western Zealand town of Vemmelev has left a clear – and disgusting – message to those who rummage through the store’s rubbish containers looking for edible food.

“Hope your food tasted good even though I have pissed in the containers every day for the last two weeks,” reads a sign posted by the employee. “If you show up again, you will be reported.”

The employee signed the letter: “Your favourite Netto employee”.

The sign has made the rounds on Facebook over the past couple of days, where it has created an intense debate and threats of boycott. In response, Netto has taken to its own page to distance itself from the employee’s actions.

“We would like to emphasise that the sign definitely does not reflect company policy,” the company wrote. “This action is not in line with our corporate morality and we have very forcefully impressed that fact upon the employee who acted on his own.”

The company also said that the employee didn't actually urinate on the containers, but nevertheless stressed that the letter was still wrong.
