Sure it’s only November, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the Roskilde Festival, is it?
To whet the appetite of music fans, the festival has announced the first addition to the 2013 music festival in the form of Norwegian metallers Kvelertak.
Announcing the act on the blog Peeling the Orange, which is run by members of the festival’s booking committee, the bookers said that the Norwegians would soon be officially added to the festival’s website as the first act of 2013.
Fans of heavy music can expect a chaotic set from Kvelertak, whose December 2011 show at Vega was rated by Copenhagen Post trainee journalist Matthew Grant Anson as the best concert of the year.
“Kvelertak’s appeal is based on hardcore punk-tinged black ‘n’ roll that was made for the live setting,” Anson wrote last year. “With three guitarists and a fat vocalist that performs shirtless and drenched in sweat, Kvelertak’s live show constantly feels like it’s one bad stage dive from falling apart, and yet it never does. There’s unseen control to their danger, and the result is a live act that will be spoken about for years to come.”
The November announcement roughly matches the timing from last year, although the first acts associated with the 2012 version of the festival – Bruce Springsteen and Björk – certainly had more name recognition than the Stavanger-based six piece.
But, hey, it’s still early.
